From National Security to International Security Copenhagen School in Crossways of Structural Realism, English School and Social Constructivism
Abstract
The works Writingsof Buzan, Waever and their colleagues from COPRI represent the turning point in security analysis and in conceptualiszation of security in the first half of the 1990's. The Copenhagen conceptualiszation of security is based on the following goes out fromthree theoretical approaches - structural realism, the English sSchool and social constructivism. Buzan, Waever and de Wilde develope the concept of national security and theyconceptualisze international security. For the Copenhagen group considersthe main referent object is state, which abandones leavesthe traditional hierarchy of values, i.e. the main value is not sovereignty or territoriality any more. The existence of state, respectivelly the existence of various values of state can be threatened by political-military as well as by economical, environmental and societal-cultural threats. In the process of conceptualiszation of security, the Copenhagen school places utsmore emphasis on the influenceimpact of the environment of the state and on the means of way,how the state or political elites interpret the environment. Buzan and his colleagues understand security not as objective but as subjective and social constructed fact.

Šárka Waisová
nar. 1978, vystudovala politologii a mezinárodní vztahy na Fakultě sociálních věd Univerzity Karlovy, na katedře politologie a evropských studií Filozofické fakulty Univerzity Palackého v Olomouci a na univerzitách v Marburku a Drážďanech. Působí na katedře politologie a mezinárodních vztahů Fakulty filozofické Západočeské univerzity v Plzni. Některé kurzy učí také na Metropolitní univerzitě Praha. Zabývá se zejména tématy spojenými s bezpečností a řešením konfliktů.
